Thanks for praying

Thanks for praying for us:

(1) Praise God for  Easter baptisms, including that of Mrs. T at Kurume Christ Church and 3 Japanese at Kurume Bible Fellowship.

(2) Praise God for providing staff for CAJ, including teachers for elementary and secondary Bible, ESL, and science. Ask God to provide a full staff for CAJ next year. CAJ needs a band director, middle school teachers (English, social studies), and a home economics teacher.

(3) Praise God for providing travel safety and energy for Michael as he did an accreditation visit for Grace International School in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

(4) Ask God to for energy for Michael as he further develop biblical perspective training for CAJ teachers and as he prepares to assist CAJ's board (May 8) and the Japan Alliance Mission (May 19-20) with strategic planning.

(5) Praise God that Kim's students continue to apply a biblical perspective to the literature they study. On a test question about A Doll's House, a play that looks closely at one particular marriage but has meaning for all people, students wrote:
  • ...A true, loving family can exist only when people are selfless, seeking to help each other. Torvald was concerned more about his reputation than anything else, and Nora wanted to find out who she was. This was more important to her than her family. Mrs. Linde, on the other hand, is willing to help and sacrifice in order to build a family with Krogstad. I find this theme most compelling because in the Bible it says that those who try to save their lives will lose them, and those who give up their lives will gain them. I think this is so true.

  • ...I think sacrifice should play an important role in any Christian's life. It is at the base of Christianity itself, as God sacrificed His Son for us all. In the same way, Christians should mimic God and sacrifice their time, effort, money, etc. for others, just as Mrs. Linde does...
